History: Opened in 1928. The site was entirely moved 11 years later from across Bayou St John to its present location in 1939. Originally "whites only", Lincoln Beach, its segregated neighbor was integrated in the early 19060s. Closed in 1983; land sat dormant for 15 years before University of New Orleans purchased the land.
