Notes: Located in the Old South section of the park. Housed inside a 14,000 sq ft faux mountain.
(Audio before dispatch)
Whoa there, I'm Gator McGee and this here's my mountain. While ridin' in here, keep your hands inside the car and keep a holdin' on that bar in front of ya.
(Audio after returning)
Thanks for ridin', get out of the car to your left. You'll see a tunnel that'll take you out. Come back and see me, he he.
Premier's design is very similar in nature and probably inspired by the Windstorm and Hurricane designs put forth by Italian ride manufacturers such as S&MC/S.D.C & Zamperla.
Structure: Tunnels were built to/from the loading and unloading platforms to cut out all outside light sources and maintain the ride darkness along with rebuilding and adding detail to the rocks of the exterior waterfall for the 1997 season.
Elements: Two horizontal spirals, two 90° drops with banking turns up to 82°.
Features: Storyline follows a mysterious 65 ft mountain that sprouted from the "swamps" of the park's Old South section. According to legend, buried deep within the mountain's chambers are bountiful treasures hidden years ago by the infamous pirate Jean LaFitte. Today, a mysterious force lurks in the darkness, guarding the treasure from those who venture to find it. Guests become a part of the mystery as they pass by abandoned expedition camps of explorers who have vanished and encounter obstacles like snapping gators, quicksand... and roller coaster thrills. Legend has it that gold awaits those who experience the wild ride in the dark. Is the legend true? The answer can only be found by those brave enough to dare the darkness.
History: Originally this ride was to open at Six Flags Great Adventure as Skull Mountain.
It's wild and intense riding completely in the dark especially with two near 90° drops somewhere out there. I rate it 4 's
